Fish Oil And Inflammation
Nature's Pain Reliever
Fish oil and inflammation have a very intimate connection to pain.
Whenever there is pain, there is a chemical called prostaglandin. Prostaglandin equals pain and inflammation.
Ever sprained an ankle? The ankle was swollen, red, hot, not to mention painful, right?
Trauma, or injury, is a very basic cause of prostaglandin, thus pain
Injured ligaments, tendons or muscles cause torn cells to trigger the inflammatory process.
There is a 4-step process to make prostaglandin. Trauma causes cells to break apart and the fats in the cell coverings enter at Step 1 of this process.
Pain relievers work by stopping production of prostaglandin.
But this is at the expense of many other areas in the body: heart attack risk, high blood pressure, kidney or liver failure or cancer.
And this is why we want to know about the valuable connection of fish oil and inflammation.
Ongoing pain medication escalates the chance for chronic deadly diseases. But fish oil may decrease pain over time while decreasing risk for those same chronic deadly diseases.
There are two ingredients that come from fish oil: EPA and DHA. They are both highly beneficial! But numerous
researchers have found that EPA is the critical anti-inflammation ingredient.
Fish oil and inflammation are related at step #3 of the inflammation pathway. Product #3, arachidonic acid (AA), is one reaction away from turning into product #4, prostaglandin. And the ingredient in fish oil called EPA goes head-to-head against AA to "knock it out".
So for natural remedies for inflammation, you are concerned with the amount of EPA (the good guy) to "knock out" AA (the bad guy).
With plenty of EPA, there isn't as much AA sitting around for conversion to your enemy, prostaglandin, the pain chemical!
There are exact criteria you should look for in an omega 3 inflammation supplement to get the most effective protection.
In my free e-book, "8 Common Mistakes Patients Make When Seeking Pain Relief", there is an exhaustive chapter on how to EFFECTIVELY take "nature's pain reliever" (fish oils) to get pain relief.
